A few weeks ago someone asked about cheap recipes to make for their in-laws, and someone posted a recipe that included a chicken glaze made with balsamic vinegar and sugar. I went out and bought a bottle of balsamic vinegar because the recipe sounded great, and now I can’t find the old post.
Does anyone remember? Or, do you have any ideas of what I should do with this balsamic vinegar?
I’ve used balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in recipes.
Take about 1/2 Tbsp of brown sugar and put into a small bowl. Start adding balsamic vinegar to taste. Once it tastes right, it should be ready. Brush it on the chicken just before its ready. Let the glaze caramelize a little before you take the chicken out of the pan, off the BBQ grill or out of the oven.
Balsamic vinegar and brown sugar is also very good with a mixture of sauteed onions and sauteed shredded red cabbage. You could serve this with the chicken and a side of mashed potatoes. YUMM!

Betty’s idea with the brown sugar sounds better than gran. sugar. It would add a crusty topping to what ever you’re cooking.

If you put the balsamic vinegar in a pot and reduce it…you will get a thick glaze.
Reducing is evaporating all the water.
